EMDR Therapy for therapists

What if you were just a ‘Healer’ instead of a ‘Wounded Healer’?

Seeking therapy as a therapist can feel daunting and isolating. Therapists are supposed to know how to cope, regulate, overcome trauma, and do it all, right? Yes, but you’re human, too. You’re a person who exists outside the therapy chair and faces real challenges, just like everyone else. Many of us were drawn to this work because of hardships we’ve experienced firsthand and a desire to help others feel less alone in their struggles. And, in reality, witnessing others’ pain can also lead to vicarious traumatization, and that chips away at our ability to show up for ourselves and others. Just because you know how to help others navigate personal challenges doesn’t mean you have to navigate yours alone.

That’s why I specialize in offering high-quality EMDR therapy and professional support to my peer therapists.

I'm Carolyn Lenz, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, and Certified EMDR Therapist based in Clearwater, FL. I work with accomplished, self-aware individuals who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel anxious, unfulfilled, and exhausted on the inside. People who have spent years showing up for everyone else and are ready to show up for themselves.

Therapists carry a particular kind of weight: the vicarious exposure to others' pain, the pressure to appear regulated and competent, and often a deep reluctance to seek support for themselves. I offer specialized support for therapists navigating their own trauma, burnout, and the particular vulnerabilities that come with this work. You deserve the same quality of care you give your clients. I understand this pain because I have lived it. As a person who has experienced complex trauma and lives with chronic health issues, I have turned to therapy many times to help me navigate obstacles, overcome self-limiting beliefs, and make the changes that led to a more fulfilling life.

Finding a therapist was an extremely challenging and often discouraging experience. This is why I’m particularly passionate about supporting the healing journeys of my fellow therapists.

You don’t have to do it alone; let’s explore how I can support your healing journey.
