EMDR Consultation and Certification
I provide EMDR consultation for therapists who know this work is their calling and want the clinical confidence to match. Whether you are working toward EMDR certification or simply want to stop second-guessing your sessions, I help you move from trained to truly skilled.
I became a consultant because I remember what it felt like to be hungry to learn more, to want a mentor, and, above all else, the drive to master my craft. There is a real difference between knowing the protocol and knowing how to think in session: how to read a client's nervous system, how to pace the work, when to push forward, and when to slow down. That kind of clinical confidence doesn't come from reading more, learning another protocol, or guessing. It comes from doing the work alongside someone who deeply understands how EMDR is learned and practiced.
You might say I’m obsessed. I’ve created two EMDRIA-approved continuing education courses; I have a quarterly EMDR newsletter for professionals; I co-authored Transformational EMDR: The Manual with Dr. Dobo and friends; I’m Certified in Transformational™ EMDR; and I often assist at the EMDR Educators Basic Trainings. But honestly, nothing I love more than sitting with a client doing EMDR or helping my consultees excel at their craft.
Consultation is where training becomes mastery. It is where you stop second-guessing and start trusting yourself, not because someone told you that you are doing fine, but because you can feel it in your work.
Master your craft.
Master your craft.
What is EMDR consultation with Carolyn like?
My consultation is collaborative, specific, and grounded in clinical rigor and real warmth. Whether you are working toward EMDR certification or simply want to deepen your skills, here is what you can expect:
- Case consultation where we look closely at what is happening in your sessions, what is working, what is getting stuck, and what your clinical instincts are telling you.
- Support in understanding the AIP model and theoretical foundations of EMDR so your decisions in session come from clarity, not guessing.
- Guidance through the EMDRIA certification process if that is your goal, including documentation, case conceptualization, and meeting your consultation hour requirements.
-Develop confidence in navigating the phases of treatment, target development, recognizing and responding to blocks, loops, and other common processing roadblocks.
- Video review of your actual sessions, which EMDRIA strongly recommends as part of the consultation process. This is where the real growth happens. Talking about a session gives us one layer of information. Watching it together gives us so much more: the pacing, the attunement, the moments that slipped by in real time. It might sound intimidating, and most therapists feel that way at first. It is almost always less scary than you expect, and it is the single most powerful way to accelerate your development as an EMDR clinician.
- A pace and container that feels sustainable, not overwhelming.
- Constructive feedback delivered with the same care and attunement you bring to your own clients.
-Genuine care, mentorship, and professional development that builds you up while also challenging you to grow.
